The FLOTHOLT SURVIVAL KIT is more than a fragrance – it is a ritual, a shelter, and an homage to the raw elements of Iceland. Created through the collaboration between Fischersund, the family-run perfumery and art collective in Reykjavík, and the legendary band Sigur Rós, it captures the essence of resilience and beauty. At its core lies FLOTHOLT, first introduced in 2022 during the Sigur Rós World Tour. Its name comes from the Icelandic word for lifebuoy, symbolizing hope, rescue, and support amidst the waves. Inspired by the untamed wildness of the ocean, by the darkness of its depths and the shimmer of the horizon, FLOTHOLT balances danger and safety, silence and energy.

The Essence of the North

FLOTHOLT opens with an ozonic brightness, infused with Sitka spruce and fresh citrus notes. Soon, green touches of cypress emerge alongside the salty presence of seaweed, evoking crashing waves against rugged cliffs. In the base, ambergris, smoke, and musk create depth, layered with burnt driftwood and the heavy breath of briny air. The fragrance feels like a single breath taken in pitch-black salt: briny hair, weathered leather, still air, embers. Its strength lies in the key elements – amber, leather, fresh air, seaweed, salt, smoke, and Sitka spruce – blending into a raw yet poetic composition that recalls the stark clarity of the North.

A Ritual of Hope

Each Survival Kit includes a 5 ml flacon of FLOTHOLT, three incense cones, and a serving of hand-picked Icelandic herbal tea – three simple gestures of warmth, clarity, and grounding. Inspired by the rugged Icelandic landscape and the minimalist aesthetic of Sigur Rós, the kit is crafted with simplicity and sustainability at its core. It belongs to a wider olfactory landscape by Fischersund, where five fragrances – Útilykt, Fönn, Ró, Fjallalíf, and Flotholt – trace the topography of Iceland in scent. Each composition embodies an element, a moment, a fragment of nature.

More than perfume, the Flotholt Survival Kit is an invitation to pause, to recharge, and to embrace the beauty of reduction. Handcrafted in Reykjavík, it carries music, memory, and the elemental force of Iceland.
