Launched in 2022 to celebrate the Sigur Rós World Tour, FLOTHOLT takes its name from the Icelandic word for a lifebuoy, a symbol of rescue and survival. Inspired by the ocean in its darkest and wildest form, this perfume embodies the tension between danger and light, silence and energy.

The scent opens with the salty clarity of fresh sea air, layered with weathered leather and mineral brine. Soon, smoky facets unfold – burnt driftwood, glowing embers, and the stillness of air heavy with salt. FLOTHOLT is like a breath drawn at the edge of the horizon: endless, austere, and pierced by a ray of light.

A work of art in every bottle

Each bottle of FLOTHOLT is handmade in Iceland and wrapped in a cotton bandana illustrated by artist Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir. This design mirrors the elemental force of the fragrance, uniting scent, music, and visual poetry into one sensory experience. FLOTHOLT is not merely a perfume but an expression of resilience, memory, and the untamed beauty of Iceland’s landscapes.

Fischersund is a family-run perfume house and art collective located at Fischersund 3 in downtown Reykjavík. Once a bakery, the space now tells new stories, where old ship beams and a reclaimed church organ façade frame the artistry of scent. Every perfume is handcrafted in Reykjavík using sustainably sourced Icelandic oils and wild foraged herbs, reflecting authenticity and a deep connection to nature.
