No. 101 by Fischersund is not merely a fragrance – it is a memory, a landscape, a sound. Inspired by the wild backyards of Reykjavík and the fleeting brilliance of the Icelandic summer, this unisex perfume captures a season of quiet chaos and luminous clarity – drawn out by endless daylight, and silenced by the sudden return of snow.

The composition was created in 2022 by Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, the voice of the iconic band Sigur Rós, and co-founder of the family-run house Fischersund in downtown Reykjavík. Known for its handcrafted, artful perfumes, Fischersund is rooted in a deep connection to Iceland’s raw beauty – fusing scent, sound, and storytelling.

No. 101 is green, crisp, subtly smoky – and alive. It smells of crushed herbs, damp soil, blackcurrant, sunbaked stone, and windblown silence. Of garden chairs stacked for winter, a pot of rainwater and cigarette ends, and sorrel pulled from between the cracks. It is the scent of somewhere you were – and will never forget.

To accompany the fragrance, Jónsi composed the original song “Bakgarðar” (“Backyards”) with Sin Fang and Kjartan Holm – an ambient, cinematic piece that mirrors the scent’s emotional landscape and adds a second, sonic dimension to the experience.

Even the packaging tells a story: each bottle is hand-wrapped in a custom-illustrated cotton bandana by Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir, echoing the mood and motifs of the fragrance – a tactile bridge between scent and art.
