It is 5:45 a.m. in the year 1920, at the shores of Lake Koko Nor. The surface of the cashmere-blue water lies motionless as a man—captivated by his own reflection—gazes at his freshly shaven face. This olfactory dreamscape unfolds in Amdo—one of Tibet’s three historical regions. Amid vast grasslands and majestic peaks lies the sacred Koko Nor (also known as Qinghai Lake), China’s largest saltwater lake. For Tibetan Buddhists, it is a spiritual haven, the "Blue Lake," deeply intertwined with cultural identity and the pursuit of meaning.

Vetiverol, galbanum, and the art of scent

ACT 5 by Pantomime is a modern vetiver fragrance—clearly structured, touched by ozone, and infused with a profound sense of calm. At its core lies Vetiverol, a rare natural component distilled from vetiver oil. While vetiver is known for its earthy, woody depth, Vetiverol adds airy, salty, and subtly citrusy facets. Like a shaft of atmospheric light, it reveals shimmering notes of grapefruit and mineral clarity—a dance of contrast and harmony.

This composition is enriched by exquisite galbanum resinoid. Its deep green and slightly resinous character lends a vegetal depth that evokes untouched wilderness. The philosophy behind Pantomime

ACT 5 is the creation of perfumer Fredrik Dalman, in artistic collaboration with Jeroen Oude Sogtoen, founder of Zenology and Maison Mona di Orio. Together, they established Pantomime in 2023, with the vision of crafting fragrances that narrate stories—through the deconstruction of raw materials, through staging, through olfactory theatre.
