ATHENAEUM is the distillation of a long-forgotten but dearly beloved fragrance essence that was awakened by an unexpected encounter in the cozy Athenaeum. It is the broken and faded memory of an idyllic childhood that reappears in the urban landscape. Upon entering the Athenaeum, one is caught up in an overwhelming scent of weathered paper and ink, enveloped in a veil of sun-drenched dust. It immediately transports us back to the hot summer days spent lingering in swaying meadows, our noses buried in hundreds of pages of paper, surrounded by crops and mossy woods.

ATHENAEUM is comforting and lonely at the same time, like the gentle sunshine that sweeps through the rugged landscapes. A fragrance that invites you to dream. Sustainably sourced, hand-harvested Scottish lavender is masterfully showcased in ATHENAEUM. It is the first handcrafted perfume from Jorum Studio to use biodynamic fragrance ingredients from Scottish cultivation.

The perfumer comments:

ATHENAEUM is a bit of a departure for us. With this fragrance I wanted to revive a distant and forgotten memory from my childhood growing up in rural Scotland. More specifically, sitting under an old oak tree at the edge of a field and woodland full of bluebells, reading books and newspapers. This memory was reawakened by a recent olfactory experience in Edinburgh's urban olfactory world, the National Library and Archives. As I entered the archives, childhood memories of gently leafing through texts in a meadow came flooding back. I found it amusing to stumble across this shared but unrelated olfactory fingerprint. I wanted to capture the feeling of both reference points in ATHENAEUM. Sensory-wise, ATHENAEUM is like a drizzle of fresh honey from the hive, the scent of beeswax on an aged cabinet, the first sip of cold cider savored in the orchard from which it came. ATHENAEUM is the rain of lavender-thick pollen bouncing off a delicate wing in flight. ATHENAEUM is the story of the creator sewn together with gilded thread."
