The FAUX FLORA DISCOVERY SET by Fischersund is a poetic journey in fragrance form. Conceived for the exhibition Faux Flora at the National Nordic Museum, this collection of five perfumes transforms the stages of human life into olfactory blossoms. Each scent represents an imagined flower – one that never existed in nature, yet comes alive through molecules, memory, and artistic vision. Birth, childhood, youth, maturity, and old age unfold in a sequence of scents that are both otherworldly and profoundly human.

From innocence to blossoming

No. 1 symbolizes birth, a soft and intimate fragrance of porcelain, milk, cotton, and dust. Bright bergamot and solar notes fade into creamy salt and iris, while white musk and Ambroxan settle close to the skin like a newborn’s breath. No. 2captures the playful spirit of childhood with sparkling lemon, lavender, and green pepper, blended with tomato leaf, raspberry, and a salty-sweet licorice nuance. Cedarwood and vetiver provide grounding, while the composition remains carefree and bright. No. 3, devoted to youth, is bold and sensual: pink pepper and bergamot give way to lipstick, rose, and Magnolan – an airy floral molecule – before vanilla, leather, and sugar add warmth, sweetness, and a touch of rebellion.

The weight of years and the echo of endings

No. 4 stands for maturity – golden amber, resin tears, and labdanum intertwine with incense, pine, and cypress. Cashmeran, sandalwood, musk, and balsam shape a warm, resonant base that radiates wisdom and depth. Finally, No. 5embraces the darkness of old age. Spices, earth, red wine, and ash evoke gravity, while leather and cypriol in the heart introduce an animalic edge. The base resonates with patchouli, oud, smoke, civet, indole, and petrichor – the earthy scent of rain on dry soil – conjuring both melancholy and transcendence.

The FAUX FLORA DISCOVERY SET is more than perfume; it is a story told in fragrance.
