The name MONTO’AC comes from the Croatoan dialect and means “great spirit” – a name that reflects the fragrance’s depth and spiritual resonance. Inspired by the natural elements and the culture of the Indigenous peoples of the mid-Atlantic United States, this scent is a tribute to the forces that flow through all life. MONTO’AC evokes visions of the coastal hills and wooded landscapes of the Carolinas, where earth, salt, and smoke intertwine. It is a fragrance that leads you into the stillness of nature and reminds you of the invisible bond between humanity and the land.

Tobacco, Oakmoss, and the Soul of Leather

The composition of MONTO’AC opens with a brisk, salty breeze, where silver sage reveals its aromatic clarity. The fresh, green sweetness of Muscadinia grape lends brightness and unexpected fruitiness to the top notes. At the heart, the depth of the forest emerges: earthy oakmoss and green tobacco leaf conjure the image of damp forest floor and sunlit foliage. In the base, the solemn warmth of frankincense meets the supple richness of leather, creating a smoky, grounded foundation – spiritual, earthy, and mysterious. MONTO’AC was created in 2017 in collaboration with perfumer Thomas Siedel, whose expertise gave balance and refinement to the composition. Founded in 2015 in Hudson, New York, by Christopher Draghi and Robert Dobay, Source Adage tells olfactory stories of landscapes and cultures. Every fragrance is designed to be gender-neutral, sustainably crafted, and uncompromising in quality. In 2024, the brand moved its creative studio to Tuscany under the vision Born in New York. reMade in Italy. There, perfumes and home fragrances are crafted with artisanal care and a devotion to authenticity over trends.
