Behind the Fragrance
Parfums MDCI CUIR CAVALIER Eau de Parfum
A leather-clad cavalier – riding through smoke, rose and flame
CUIR CAVALIER by Parfums MDCI is not just a fragrance – it is a portrait in motion. Inspired by Théodore Géricault’s dramatic masterpiece Officer of the Imperial Guard Charging, this scent captures the fierce elegance and poetic strength of a cavalryman in full stride. You can almost hear the echo of hooves on stone, smell the tension of tanned leather, and feel the noble weight of steel and longing. In the hands of master perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer, this image becomes a symphony of leather, spice, rose and firelight – a fragrance that wears like a coat of arms.
From the very first moment, mandarin strikes a vivid, citrusy chord, quickly enveloped by the golden warmth of saffron – dry, luxurious and slightly metallic. These radiant notes meet the unmistakable depth of leather, smoky and commanding, drawing you into a world of raw masculinity tempered by sensitivity. Then comes the unexpected: a velvety Damask rose, lush and subtly fruity, its sweetness dancing against the darker notes like sun on polished armor.
Spice, rose and oud – a cavalier’s story in scent
At its heart, CUIR CAVALIER reveals tension and harmony in equal measure: the animalic power of oud is softened by rose, touched with honey, vanilla and the rounded glow of tonka bean. These gourmand elements do not sweeten the scent but give it depth, complexity and warmth – like the inner life of a man whose surface is forged in discipline. Pepper and cardamom crackle in the background, adding movement and energy. The composition dries down to a veil of woodsmoke, musk, and distant embers.
CUIR CAVALIER is more than a leather fragrance – it is an olfactory self-portrait: of a rider in battle, of a soul in tension, of nobility without pretense. Wear it like a silent declaration – and discover CUIR CAVALIER now at scent amor.
Nathalie Feisthauer – a master of contrasts and character
Nathalie Feisthauer is one of France’s most accomplished perfumers. Trained in Grasse and beginning her career at Givaudan, she has composed for Hermès, Amouage, Comme des Garçons, État Libre d’Orange, and more – each creation marked by a rare ability to express duality and atmosphere. From florals to resins, her work spans genres but is always precise, evocative and personal. With CUIR CAVALIER, she delivers a fragrance that reads like a painting: masculine, graceful, and deeply alive.
