Spyros Drosopoulos – The Alchemist of the Olfactory Kaleidoscope

Between neuroscience and instinct – the path of a perfumer without conventions

You'll meet a perfumer who doesn't dwell on expectations—but on curiosity. Spyros Drosopoulos was born in the Netherlands but grew up in Greece—two cultures that have shaped his perception of the world and sensuality in equal measure. His professional career began entirely without bottles and scent strips: He studied psychology in Amsterdam and earned his doctorate in philosophy with the grade magma cum laude from the University of Lübeck.

But where others pursue linear careers, Spyros followed what truly fascinated him: the invisible, the instinctive – fragrance. In his free time, he began experimenting with essential oils, aroma molecules, and raw materials, curious, analytical, and passionate. What began as an experiment became a vision. In 2012, he founded his own brand, BARUTI – a name that means "gunpowder" in Greek and represents what his creations are:explosive, energetic, unpredictable.

The handwriting of a border crosser

When you wear a Spyros fragrance, you don't sense smooth perfection. You experience tension, movement, life. His perfumes are kaleidoscopic—they change over time, reveal new levels, revolve around themselves, and defy clear classification.

He loves to break rules, create contrasts, and harmonize opposites: animalistic and floral, sweet and raw, clean and wild. Each of his fragrances is an experiment with emotions—sometimes playful, sometimes provocative, sometimes philosophical. Spyros does not compose for the mainstream, but for the senses.

His approach is both scientific and intuitive. He works analytically and precisely—yet from his gut. The result is fragrances with recognition, depth, and character—sometimes uncomfortable, often surprising, but always authentic.

His works at scent amor –BARUTI in pure form

At scent amor you will find a selection of his most outstanding creations – each one an example of the complexity of his skills:

INDIGO
A dark, mystical fragrance that unfolds a mysterious depth with notes of frankincense, amber, fir balsam, and clary sage. INDIGO is like a glimpse into the inner self—calm, ethereal, sensual.

CHAI
A warming, spicy embrace inspired by Indian tea tradition. With cardamom, clove, black tea, and sweet vanilla, CHAI seduces with a creamy, gourmand accord – a feel-good fragrance, but with some rough edges.

PERVERSE
An olfactory statement: animalistic, leathery, untamed. Vetiver, musk, civet, and a touch of impudence make this fragrance one of the most provocative works from the house of BARUTI.

TINDRER
A bright green, fresh, yet erotically charged fragrance. With mint, rhubarb, jasmine, Iso E Super, and musk – shimmering, fleeting, seductive. Like a flirt on the skin.

One brand, one person, one mission

Spyros Drosopoulos is not just a perfumer. He is a storyteller, a scientist, a provocateur—and someone who devotes himself to his work with complete dedication. His fragrances are not pleasing. They are honest. They are not something you can wear casually. They invite you to listen, to think along, to empathize.

With BARUTI he has created one of Europe's most exciting independent brands. At scent amor, you'll find the essence of this idea – uncompromising fragrances for people with the courage to explore depth and a passion for olfactory rebellion.
