Florence, Distant Gardens and a Remarkable Family Heritage

Behind EXTRA VIRGO is Alex Postiglione, Prince of Limbin. Born in Florence and educated in art history, he has a deep interest in plants and anthropology. His family roots reach back to Burma’s Konbaung dynasty. This connection between cultures informs his approach to fragrance, alongside a fascination with the significance aromatic materials have held for people throughout history.

An important presence in his life is the artist Letizia Ridomi, his partner and muse. Together, they draw inspiration from their “secret gardens”: family sanctuaries where plants grow, materials are discovered and ideas take shape. Alex develops the fragrance compositions himself. His work brings personal memories together with botanical curiosity and a distinctly sensual understanding of perfume.

Rare Materials with a Character of Their Own

The ambitions of EXTRA VIRGO become particularly apparent in its choice of materials. For the LES FLEURS DU MAL collection, the house names honey, beeswax, propolis, flower extracts and rare oud varieties from China and Vietnam, sourced from small producers. Such ingredients introduce contrasting facets into a composition: balsamic warmth, bittersweet depth, animalic nuances or an almost tangible floral richness.

The first collection, FORBIDDEN BOTANICALS, explores the complex relationship between people and plants. Its perfumes are blended by hand in small batches at Castello di Montecucchi. MONTE KUSH Extrait de Parfum illustrates just how unconventional this choice of materials can be: Damask rose, Turkish rose oil, cannabis terpenes, green Hojari frankincense from Oman, vintage Cambodian oud and Tuscan rosemary come together in its composition.
