Early summers that smell of herbs
Parisian-born Grégoire Balleydier spent many childhood summers in Provence. Sun on stone, olive groves, the dry warmth over thyme and rosemary – this is where his lifelong fascination with fragrance and texture began. At fifteen, an internship at a perfume house confirmed what his heart had long known: he wanted to be a perfumer.
From studying chemistry to perfumery
In 2011 he started studying chemistry in Versailles, and in 2013 he moved to the École Supérieure du Parfum and graduates five years later. Science remains his foundation, but artistic curiosity leads him deeper into the world of artistic fragrance composition – where molecules tell stories.
Apprenticeship at big tables
After a year as a Junior Perfumer at Argeville Grégoire returns to Paris and works at dsm-firmenich in the team of the master perfumer Nathalie Lorson and refines his style: precise, modern, clear. Next comes London with Martin Koh and New York City with Frank Voelkl – two metropolises that give his perspective on Niche perfume expand and sharpen his senses.
Raw materials that travel around the world
His journey takes him to Chennai, to night-harvested jasmine and sun-drenched tuberose, and then to Madagascar to spices, ylang-ylang, and vanilla. As an avid photographer, he captures these impressions: light, colors, harvests, hands. Images become sketches, and sketches become modern unisex niche fragrances that elegantly balance transparency and depth.
Parisian present, open future
Paris remains his studio. Grégoire is dsm-firmenich. He remains faithful to this tradition and today works as a perfumer, creating compositions that combine rational thought and emotion. He utilizes new raw materials and technologies without losing their poetic quality—fragrances that radiate, linger, and allow the skin to tell its own story.
