The remarkable story of Trudon

The story of Trudon begins not with a perfume bottle, but with a wax figure. In 1643, the young wax and spice merchant Claude Trudon founded a small merchant and wax factory on rue Saint Honoré in Paris.

At a time when candles were an indispensable commodity for light, he began making and selling candles. Claude Trudon placed particular emphasis on the high purity and quality of the wax, quickly establishing a strong reputation.

Rise to Royal Court Purveyor

In 1687, his son, Jacques Trudon, became master waxmaker and official supplier to the court of the French Sun King Louis XIV. Under the reign of Louis XV, the house was given the title "Manufacture Royale de Cire" and from then on supplied candles not only to the royal court in Versailles, but also to major churches, cathedrals, and the French aristocracy.
