Summer in the heart, Capri on the skin

Today I feel like Mediterranean lifestyle, the warming sun of Italy and I long for the lightness of carefree summer evenings. Today I'm taking you to Capri, an island in the Gulf of Naples, which is also often referred to as the jewel of Italy. Capri is not only known for its spectacular landscapes and crystal clear blue water, but also for its rich history and culture, which are reflected in the island's architecture, traditions and culinary delights. For centuries, Capri has fascinated poets, writers and famous people alike with its breathtaking beauty and hidden treasures. Now you're rightly wondering what Capri has to do with our passion for exquisite fragrances? In addition to Capri's natural beauty and the many treasures of this impressive destination, the island has also produced its own perfume brand: CARTHUSIA . This brand is a piece of Capri and its fragrance creations are a symbol of the beauty of this incomparable island that is waiting to be discovered. Corallium of Carthusian

CARTHUSIA - Made in Italy

At the beginning of 2023, just in time for its 75th anniversary, CARTHUSIA was officially declared a historic brand of national importance by the Italian Ministry of Trade, making it a symbol of traditional Italian craftsmanship. This honorable award is given to companies that have not only existed for at least 50 years, but also cultivate Italy's traditions and bear the coveted "Made in Italy" seal. CARTHUSIA and thus the exquisite fragrances of the island of Capri have a history as enchanting as the island's landscapes themselves. But let's start from the beginning: The history of CARTHUSIA has its origins, how could it be otherwise, on Capri, when Joan of Anjou, Queen of Naples, visited the island in 1380. The prior of the Certosa di San Giacomo commissioned a collection of the island's most beautiful flowers for the royal flower arrangements. Three days later, it was discovered by chance that the water in which the flowers were standing gave off a particularly pleasant scent. Inspired by this coincidence, a Father Alchemist created the “Garofilium Silvestre Caprese”, the first perfume of Capri.

From Capri to the World Stage

The rebirth of the ancient perfume formulas took place in 1948, when they were rediscovered by the Prior of the Charterhouse and presented to a chemist from Piedmont, who began production in a small laboratory that he called "CARTHUSIA". The small laboratory became a magical place, rich in aromas and emotions, where CARTHUSIA fragrances are still created today. The production methods have not changed since the times of the monks either. All products are made from the highest quality raw materials, including rosemary from Monte Solaro and wild carnation from Capri, which give the fragrances their incomparable nuances. Today, as in the past, each bottle is filled and packaged by hand, a testament to the constant dedication and experience that goes into every step of the process. In September 2002, a historic moment, CARTHUSIA perfumes spread beyond the borders of Capri for the first time and entered the world stage. Until then, these unique fragrance creations were only available on Capri, where visitors could discover them just a few steps from the famous Piazetta. With the same elegance and restraint that characterizes a true grand seigneur, they have now made the leap into the public eye.

exclusivity and elegance

More recently, the ancient formulas have been carefully reworked by Laura Tonatto, a renowned "nose" from Piedmont. It takes many words to accurately describe the fragrances of Capri, because each one is an olfactory journey to Capri. Beautiful and noble like the island itself, they exude exclusivity and elegance. The bright colors that bathe the island in a magical light during the day and the enchanting sunsets that make you think the world is perfect are reflected in CARTHUSIA perfumes. Italian tradition and the attitude to life on Capri, one of the most beautiful islands in the world, find a home in CARTHUSIA products. Today, the brand presents itself as a small family business that places the highest quality and traditional values at the forefront.

A'mmare of CARTHUSIA

One fragrance from the CARTHUSIA brand has particularly caught my eye, which is why I would like to introduce it to you in more detail. A'mmare Eau de Parfum by CARTHUSIA is a tribute to the Italian summer, with the seductive streets of Capri and a hint of longing that recalls the vastness of the sea on the horizon. This unisex fragrance, available in 100 ml and 50 ml sizes, celebrates the abundance of nature and the tranquility of coastal life. As part of CARTHUSIA's "Best Sellers" and "Italian Summer" collections, A'mmare offers a sensual fragrance experience. An exquisite creation that tells a magical story that envelops the wearer in an authentic way and tells of a secret garden hidden somewhere between the narrow streets of Capri and the waves of the Mediterranean. The fragrance brings out coral branches, plant compositions, shells and bursts of Capri's natural heritage. A'mmare shines like the sunlight of a long summer day. This perfume by CARTHUSIA is a testament to CARTHUSIA's masterful craftsmanship in the art of perfumery. A masterpiece that manages to authentically capture the Italian elegance and timeless beauty of Capri. The work of art is completed by the bottle design by the artist Paola Bassetti. Her unique and instantly recognizable style is the expression of interdisciplinary research in various disciplines: from biology to botany, from anatomy to archaeology and architecture. On the bottle of the Eau de Parfum A'mmare, marine flora and fauna form a visual union. A visualization of colors and scents of a hidden aquatic world that resembles a viridarium.
