Ilias Ermenidis

Ilias Ermenidis fascinating journey into the world of perfumery is deeply rooted in his rich multicultural upbringing. Born in Istanbul, he spent his early years there before moving to Athens. His exposure to different cultures and languages from an early age shaped him into a true citizen of the world, and this multicultural outlook is reflected in his remarkable command of languages and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

The world of fragrance fascinated Ilias Ermenidis during his formative years, particularly through his experiences at his father's perfume and fragrance factory in Istanbul. His summers as an intern there fueled his fascination with fragrances. Later in Paris, he pursued formal studies in perfumery, which laid the foundation for a distinguished career.

His professional journey took a significant turn when he joined Firmenich, and he proudly became the first apprentice perfumer to graduate from ISIP. (ISIP = Institut supérieur international du parfum, founded by Jean Jacques Guerlain) 

Firmenich became more than just a workplace for Ermenidis; it became a space where he could live out his passion and creativity. He describes it as the feeling of being an “artist in residence” and emphasizes the deep connection he has with the company's DNA.

For a long time, Ilias Ermenidis commuted between Paris and Geneva, but then decided to relocate to New York. The move to New York marked another decisive chapter in Ermenidis' life. He has thrived and prospered in the vibrant atmosphere of New York over the past two decades. He attributes his positive character to his Mediterranean roots, and he cherishes the opportunity to return to Greece each summer to reconnect with family and friends.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ilias Ermenidis values family and fatherhood as the cornerstones of his life. These aspects, deeply rooted in his worldview, contribute to the positive energy and enthusiasm he brings to all his projects. His passion for perfumery is not only a creative expression, but also a means of sharing new emotions with those who will eventually wear his creations.
