Céline Perdriel

Céline Perdriel is a perfumer whose passion for fragrance began in her childhood when, at the age of eight, her grandmother gave her a set of different aromatic accords. This early encounter sparked her fascination with perfumery, particularly the scents of nature such as plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables and books. Perdriel graduated from a chemistry faculty and then attended Isipca for a two-year program where she gained practical experience.

Perdriel has a preference for certain ingredients such as clary sage combined with ambroxan and the warm labdanum she used in her Cuir Nilam fragrance. She also has a particular passion for white cocoa, found in Cacao Porcelana, and appreciates its seductively roasted aroma.

Since 2020, Perdriel has worked with Atelier Materi and has co-created the Rose Ardoise and Cuir Nilam fragrances with founder Véronique Le Bihan. This partnership is characterized by the creative freedom and bold material combinations that characterize Atelier Materi. Perdriel's latest creation for the collection is the Cèdre Figalia fragrance.

To create Cuir Nilam, Perdriel was inspired by the idea of an elegant leather combined with patchouli. The fragrance opens with fresh violet leaves, rose and leather meet in the heart, and finally patchouli and tobacco notes blend to create a sensual trail.

Perdriel wears her own creations to evaluate them over time. Currently, she prefers Rose Ardoise, which she appreciates for its mineral essence, subtle strength and mysterious undertones.

ATELIER MATERI CÈDRE FIGALIA

in an interview with perfumer Céline Perdriel:

Véronique Le Bihan, the founder of Atelier Materi, wanted a fragrance that beautifully reflects the essence of nature in all its forms. Could you please explain how you managed to capture her inspiration in this perfume?

With Véronique, we wanted to create a woody, green note that exudes a lively and fresh quality, as if it were filled with juice. I was directly inspired by the raw materials and their resonance within me and tried to capture their essence. To bring this woody fragrance to life, I combined a duo of green fig plant and tannic notes from Brazilian Mate Craftivity®, which I source exclusively from COSMO INTERNATIONAL FRAGRANCES. These carefully selected components beautifully embody the naturalness of this exceptional raw material. The spinach absolute adds the finishing touch to the juice accord with its liquid, watery and chlorophyll aspects and completes the composition.

What choices did you make when developing the fragrance? Can you explain them to us?

I wanted to create a sense of tension and movement for this track. The vibrant and organic qualities of CEDAR, enhanced by the aromatic elements of Jamaican allspice, embodied one perspective. The other focus was the FIG LEAF accord, reminiscent of a freshly crushed leaf, accompanied by the herbal nuances of basil and the refreshing tone of bergamot.

How does your love for plants influence your creative and olfactory choices?

My passion for plants means that I go beyond their simple olfactory signature. When I look at a raw material, all my senses come alive, with the sense of touch being particularly pronounced. This sensitivity allows me to work with different textures and play with contrasts in my creations.

Why did you choose to work with three different types of cedar?

To bring this woody signature to life, I wanted to combine the fascinating aspects of three different types of cedar, each with its own identity. First, the Virginia cedar brings all the energy of a characteristic woody note, dry, crystalline and lively. Added to this is the noble note of the Atlas cedar from Morocco, with its slightly smoky bark, which conveys the sensuality of sun-warmed skin. Finally, I added the very special qualities of the Alaska cedar, which with its rough signature recalls smoked thyme notes and underlines the aromatic dimension of the fragrance.

Could you choose 3 words to describe Cèdre Figalia?
